Back At It

Guess what! It’s been WAY too long since our last post, so I’m going to change that.

In the past 4-5 months since you last heard from us, an extremely hectic and stressful college semester has come and gone and another one has begun. Luckily, I graduated in December and no longer have school to stress and worry about. Unfortunately, this is not the case for Woody and our other friends. (You’ll probably be seeing more posts from me for a while as the others finish up school this semester.)

Now, what else has happened?… Oh yeah! So back in September I applied for another College Program, got accepted in October, and rode Mission: Space for the first time in my life. Woody and I successfully ran our first runDisney race (Tower of Terror 10-Miler), dressed up for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and enjoyed Food and Wine Festival as 21-year-olds.

It’s hard to believe that starting in just 5 days my second college program, and the start of the rest of my life, begins. I cannot begin to describe my excitement for my role in Recreation this time around. If you’re reading this, I hope you will join me on this new adventure. I’m hoping to post once a week, maybe more depending on my work schedule, to keep the magic going. And you’ve probably noticed this already but the look of our page has changed. New adventure, new look!!

I am really looking forward to what the next 4 months have in store and I hope you come along for the ride!

DCP Round 2

Hi everyone!!

So, I have good news!  I was accepted into another College Program for this coming fall.  I am really excited about this opportunity, but I have not made the decision yet to accept or not.  If I do accept the offer, I will be working Attractions, just like Woody!!

It’s possible that Woody and I will be taking on another DCP together in the fall.  I will definitely keep you all posted on what I decide to do.

As for our recent weekend at WDW, we took lots of photos and will be sharing them all soon.  We also went as full on tourists, experiencing the My Magic+, Fastpass+, and MagicBands like everyone else does.  We will be writing a review about all this too.

Have a magical day!! °o°

Anyways I wanted to update y’all on a little bit about my professional/personal life. I was accepted for the Fall Advantage Disney College Program! That means I’ll be spending the majority of 2014 working Attractions at Walt Disney World. For those of you who don’t know I previously participated in the Spring 2013 CP with Buzz – that is how we met! – and extended my program through that August. During that program I worked two roles Attractions and Hospitality.

I am so excited to be heading back to the Most Magical Place on Earth, and cannot wait to see what is in store for me! I will be keeping y’all updated on my time down in WDW and since I just recently moved to Florida, hopefully I will have several more updates and pictures for you guys. I have a DCP specific blog that you can visit here or here, and if any of y’all have any questions feel free to ask!

Have magical day folks!

Custodial Cast Member Creates a Magical Moment

The following story was sent in by Katie from California.  This is her most memorable magical moment at Walt Disney World.

I was roommates with Buzz and Woody during their Disney College Program and spent many glorious days in the parks with friends, as well as on my own.  One of the “magical moments” that happened to me occurred while I was killing a few hours before my shift in Tomorrowland at “Stitch’s Great Escape.”

I was over in Fantasyland, hoping to ride the Carousel and “it’s a small world.” I absolutely love these attractions.  When I looked around, I saw a custodial cast member doing something a bit out of the ordinary.  Instead of sweeping up garbage with his broom and dust pan, he was painting with them on the pavement.

There was no one else around, watching him, at the time.  There was just me and I knew something was up.  I saw him draw a big circle and then a smaller one.  Then, he turned to me and asked if I wanted to help him draw Mickey!  I was surprised that I was being chosen to help with this “water art” (I learned later on that this was the proper term for what was happening).  It was a simple act that completely made my day.  This Mickey we painted was not perfect, but it was beautiful to me.  It also made me appreciate other Cast Members for the jobs that they do.  This particular custodian made my day just by letting me help create a temporary masterpiece on the pavement of Fantasyland.

I think magic is made in all sorts of ways.  It can be as small as helping make water art or as large as spending the night in the Cinderella Castle Suite.  Regardless, when at Disney, I think it’s important to realize just how much magic is surrounding you.  Especially in the smallest gestures.
