“Blank”

For some of you this title may seem somewhat confusing, and extremely vague. However, this word has a whole new meaning to me. I heard about a new Disney stop motion short film called Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story, that starred Vinylmations and consisted of no dialogue. Essentially, it sounded like a silent, stopmotion, 40 minute feature that would either be completely brilliant or extremely weird. Thankfully, in my opinion, it was the former.

I will admit it took me a little while to warm to the idea of Blank. After the first 5 minutes I believed it was over and thought, “Oh… well that was, um interesting?”. However, the film continues and gained my attention more and more, leading to an emotional attachment to the characters. I wasn’t convinced on how they would utilize the many vinylmation characters throughout the  collections Disney has created, but the folks behind the film were able to bring a vinylmation world to life.

There’s action, love, conflict, and so many other elements that help make this such a strong film. The utilization of stop motion creates the realistic vinyl world, and helps express the emotions of the vinyl characters so vividly without any facial expressions.  It is difficult to explain the feelings you will experience from this movie. So my suggestion is if you have 40 minutes of free time click here, you’ll go through a new world of fantasy that you may not want to leave.

A New Crowd Is About To Move In.

The Walt Disney Animation Studios is already well underway with the creation of a new film, Big Hero 6.  This film will be an action-packed comedy adventure of Hiro Hamada, a robotics prodigy.   Hiro finds himself wrapped up in an evil plan that has threatened to destroy the city of San Fransokyo.  The city is very high-tech and fast-paced, making this the perfect home for a robotics prodigy.  Hiro gains the help of his closest pal Baymax (who just happens to be a robot) and teams up with a group of first-time crime fighters.  They all set out on a mission to save San Fransokyo.

The film is loosely based on the Marvel comics, “Big Hero 6.”  You can expect comic-book styled action, as well as the heart and humor of Disney Animation we have grown to love.  Using the same technology as Wreck It, RalphFrozen, and Tangled, this film is headed to theaters November 7, 2014.  This will be the first animated Marvel film the Disney Animation Studios will release.

Gaston!

One of my all time favorite Disney villains is Gaston. He’s extremely pompous and ridiculous, but he makes me laugh. And I personally believe that he is a well-developed character. In honor of Gaston and to highlight the wonderful music from Beauty and the Beast today’s Sing-along Saturday is Gaston! Enjoy my friends and as always feel free to sing-along!

Mickey’s Birthday Celebration [Part 1]

In honor of Mickey’s birthday today, we are going to celebrate all day long.

Mickey Mouse has been very important to both of us, especially in the last year.  He was the greatest boss we could ever ask for.

To start the day off right, I thought it would only be fair to share with you how Mickey got his claim to fame.

Steamboat Willie, starring Mickey Mouse, was the first cartoon ever to have synchronized sound in it.  It was a major breaking point in the animation industry.

I have added the original Steamboat Willie cartoon for you all to watch.  I personally love the “Steamboat Willie” Mickey Mouse.  He is my favorite, aside from Sorcerer Mickey, of course!

Hope you all enjoy!!!
